The Exchange Server Database Utility (ESEUtil.exe) is an inbuilt command-line utility in Exchange Server. ESEUtil can be used for viewing, repairing and modifying an Exchange database. Microsoft recommends ESEUtil tool to perform database recovery and repair operation. But there are some serious limitation attached with ESEUtil tool which sometimes cause problem.

What is ESEUtil ?
The Exchange Server Database Utility (ESEUtil.exe) is a command-line tool which can be used for repairing, viewing, and modifying an Exchange database. In the past, ESEUtil could be used to work only with mailbox and public folder databases. To perform most of the operations that it performs, ESEUtil will create a new temporary database and write all the fixed information to that new database.
